How to Find the Perfect Fit (Without the Guesswork)

For spirit wear, most of our gear is Gildan with a few items in Comfort Colors (a softer, more premium brand). Fit really depends on whether you like it true-to-size or a bit roomy.

Personally, I usually size up—gives a little extra space for washing and, for kids, room to grow.

Here are the sizes (measured flat across the chest):

Adult – Gildan

  • S: chest 20", length 27"
  • M: chest 22", length 28"
  • L: chest 24", length 29"
  • XL: chest 26", length 30"
  • 2XL: chest 28", length 31"
  • 3XL: chest 30", length 32"

Youth – Gildan

  • S: chest 15.25", length 19.75" (~ages 6–8)
  • M: chest 17", length 21.25" (~ages 10–12)
  • L: chest 19", length 22.5" (~ages 12–14)
  • XL: chest 20", length 24" (~ages 14–16)

Adult – Comfort Colors

  • S: chest 18.5", length 26.5"
  • M: chest 20.5", length 28"
  • L: chest 22", length 29.25"
  • XL: chest 24", length 30.75"
  • 2XL: chest 26", length 31.5"
  • 3XL: chest 27.75", length 32.5"

Youth – Comfort Colors

  • XS: chest 14.5", length 18" (~ages 4–5)
  • S: chest 16", length 20.5" (~ages 6–8)
  • M: chest 17", length 22" (~ages 10–12)
  • L: chest 18", length 23.5" (~ages 12–14)
  • XL: chest 19", length 25" (~ages 14–16)

Tip: The easiest way is to lay a sweatshirt you like flat, measure across the chest, and compare. Example: if it measures ~21", you’d be good in a Gildan Medium (22") or Comfort Colors Medium (20.5") depending on how you like the fit.

If you let me know which item(s) you’re looking at, I can send you the exact manufacturer’s chart for that piece!
